Blood seeped from his hands as he gave the final blow. The corpse limped to the floor in a mess. His face was emotionless. If there was a hell he knew he would be going there.
He dug a hole in the ground as deep as he could manage with his tools and laid the girl in the grave. One less witch, perhaps more lives saved than he could count on his hands.
Washing his hands off at a nearby oasis, he was not prepared for what would happen next. He probably never would have been, but as the blood from his previous activity ran down stream and he looked out to the girl across the river, he knew. He knew it was her.

Wandering around open ground wouldn't necessarily be the best thing to do to past the time, especially after finishing a witch battle. However, Dawne's thoughts had begun to wander as well, and she hadn't been paying any attention to her surroundings.
Luckily she hadn't run into another witch yet, she noted and vaguely noticing she was probably somewhere in the oasis. That was a good thing; Headquarters wasn't far off then.
Dawne wasn't going to lie, she began missing her home. The small farm her family had owned in Russia, before it got destroyed along with everything else. She tried to keep an optimistic view, it could have been worse. The Renegades had really helped her and her family out; she can't even imagine what life would have been like it if weren't for their aide (if there would have been a life).
Her cheeks flushed a little, all these thoughts about the past brought up the memory of those few hours she had spent with the boy in the capitol. It all really felt like a dream to her. She couldn't recall any other time she felt as happy before... she hadn't really given any thought on the mixture of feelings she had with him, other than she wouldn't mind feeling all that again...
She shook her head, why can't I stay focused?--
Dawne blinks, a the strong smell of metallic blood punches her in the face. Did she have walked into another witch barrier? A quick scan of her environment told her otherwise, but she still summons her weapons just in case she'd need them.
The smell leads her not to far, a small nearby pond. She stops dead in her tracks, confused at what she sees. A druid, blood and dirt staining his clothes as he finishes burying... she hoped to god it was a dead animal or something, but the pale hand sticking out from the dirt crushed her hopes. She lets a small gasp out and covers her mouth horrified, but note because the druid goes and washes his hands off in the pond like he didn't just kill a person and do a sloppy job burying them but because.. it's him.
The boy from the capitol.

Duske stood up. The watered down blood droplets dripping from his fingers. He slowly began walking towards the girl. Was this an illusion? Some trick done by a Renegade or a witch? Closing the gap between them, he reached his hand out to her. She seemed paralyzed to the spot. "..Dawne..?", he questioned. The name never leaving his memory even after all these years.
He yearned to touch her, to take her scent in again. The fleeting memories combined with the sensation she brought about in him from that one day when they were children hit him like a rail train. The world seemed to stop. What was he doing before? He couldn't recall.

Shock and confusion left her wordless. He's close to her now and she makes eye contact. He says her name and his voice arone pulsated through her like a million volts of electricity.
"You..." she forces. It comes out as a whisper. She was so sure she probably would never see him again, but here he is.
And he just murdered someone.
She steps back and lets out a breath she didn't even know she was holding. "What are you doing here?" she takes more control of her speech now, but that doesn't stop her stomach from doing back flips like it's a fucking acrobatic circus inside her.

Opening his arms, he asked "Don't you remember me, Dawne?" He took a step forward inviting her to embrace him. "The boy from the carnival. I can't believe it. You've grown into a beautiful girl." He continued his wishful banter, hope filling him. He dreamed of this day, he almost gave up on it also. Completely ignoring Dawne's question, he wrapped his arms around Dawne; taking a deep inhale of her crisp morning smell.

"How could I forget... ?" she says, remembering the bear he had won her. She blushes at the compliment and allows him to hug her, shakily returning the embrace. Is this r e a l i t y?
She slides her eyes shut and takes in his warmth, a small smile playing across her lips. Momentarily, she forgets the dead puella magi and sighs. "I missed you."

He nuzzled his face on Dawne's neck saying, " I missed you so much..." Duske meant it to.
Then a realization dawned on him: Dawne was a magical girl. He could tell from her clothes, her energy, the soul gem in her cape. His whole attitude fell. All the hope and bliss he was feeling now churned in his stomach in a nauseating way and made his head throb. His grip got a bit tighter trying to hold onto this moment as long as he could. Dawne being a magical girl and not part of the PMF could only mean two things. She was a renegade or undecided. Either way she became an enemy to him now.
Pushing the thought aside, he still had little hope. Maybe his assumptions were wrong. He only prayed they were.

"What..?" she questions at the tightening of his grip. "What is it?"
It brings her back to earth when he does this, and she breaks the embrace they're in. "Duske, you didn't kill her did you?" she let panic seep into her voice, almost afraid of the answer.
